A Trip to Vienna

Ok, not really.  But I would love to go!  I started reading Vienna Prelude the week before we got engaged while I was at the beach with some friends.  I ended up not finishing it at the beach and since we only had a four month engagement, there wasn’t really time to finish the book and the library was pretty adamant about me returning their book :-)  But it was really good and I wanted to keep reading!  Fast forward to a year later when I’m about to go from two jobs to one (woohoo!).  Even though most people probably think I’m hanging out at home in my PJs all day (ok, so maybe I have done that), I’m still at the computer and working all day!  But, for whatever reason, this sense of only having one job has freed my brain to remain calm enough to read a book.  And it’s SO wonderful!  A couple of times over the holidays I would sit and read for a couple of hours, but now, even just reading for 30 minutes before bed has been amazing.  I used to do that all the time and I’ve missed it!

So now, each time I pick up this book, I take a trip to Vienna, or Berlin, or Paris or Prague… even though it’s set during the time of World War 2, the authors do such an amazing job of capturing the beauty and romance and dream-like quality of each city.  Fictional books (and some movies) are my form of escape.  I can get so entrenched in a book that if I’ve been reading for a while, it takes me a bit to pull out and get back into my life.  And this is one of those books!  And from what I hear… there are SEVERAL more in this series!  I’m so excited.

If you’re a fan of historical fiction with action and a bit of romance, you’re going to like this one.  I’m not finished with it yet, but I’m already excited to get my hands on the next one!

Anyone else read any good books lately??  I’m always looking for some to add to my list!  Plus, I received a gift card to Barnes & Noble that’s burning a hole in my pocket :-)

Happy Thursday, everyone!

I am reading Pride and Prejudice now. The next thing on my list is The Trouble With Our Stars. Going back and hitting up the classics has been wonderful but I am also excited to read this NYT Best Seller. How would you classify “a little romance” because I cant stand books that are way too racy to be tasteful. I do love some historical fiction though.
