Being in the Moment

Sometimes my brain can’t handle more than one thing at a time.  And other times, I feel like I’m processing a million things per second.  Wedding days are usually like the latter (although, I hope that no one is ever able to see that!).  But as we pulled away from the wedding this weekend, my second shooter, Kristy (Ben was doing video!  But more on that later.), said she had overheard one of the guests say something about the bride that has stuck with me.  They said that she is always in the moment.  And it’s SO true!  She LOVES life and it shines through every part of her.  And as I think about it some more, the same thing could be said of her new husband.  Neither one of them miss a beat and it seems that no matter what is going on – their ceremony, their reception, portraits, playing, working, etc. – they are in the moment!  But the cool thing, is they want everyone else to join them there and have a blast doing it.

So, when Bill took my camera from me at their reception yesterday and began directing Ben and me for our own portrait session, Ben and I jumped into the moment with him.  And you know what?  It was amazing.  We were laughing so hard that tears were streaming down Ben’s face!

I know I say it all the time, but we have the BEST couples.  Especially when they give us a gift as simple as a snapshot of our life in that moment.
