Dear Rain,

It had been quite a while since we had seen you.  And it feels like you finally sensed that… and so you would peek in every once in a while.  But I imagine that during one of those brief visits that you realized how much you missed us too.  And that’s why you’ve been here for so long this time around.  Now please don’t get me wrong.  I LOVE summer storms.  I love when you come quickly, send us love through a thunder clap or two, and then go about your way.

But you’ve been around for quite a while now and many people are beginning to talk.  Why is the rain hanging around so much this year?  Why is it in the forecast EVERY DAY for the next 10 days?  Are the rain and sun having an argument?  Is that why the rain isn’t moving along?

So, I’m here to see if I can help.  If you and the sun are having a spat, I can help you work through it!  Because the truth is, your disagreement is affecting all of us now.  And well… we need a break.  So, maybe you and the sun should part ways for a while and you should head out of town for a bit.  I think it would be good for both of you.  This way, when you DO come back, we’ll all have missed you and will be happy to see you return!

Rain, we so appreciate all that you do – the cooler weather, the breezes you bring with you, the food you help us to grow – but even you need a break from time to time.  So go and enjoy some down time!  Or better yet, there are so many other places around the country that miss you as much as we once did.  Go hang out with them, see some old friends, and enjoy your time away.
