Dori + Jeremy | A Classic Downtown Larkin’s Wedding

This past Christmas, I walked into Dori’s house for dinner and out of the blue she begins telling a story of how she’d had her Clemson ring cut off her finger at the fire station just a few days earlier.  And she was pointing to her left hand.  But like most of us, she wears her Clemson ring on her right hand.

My thought process went something like this: “Wait, what??  Why are you pointing to your left hand?  Why were you trying to put your Clemson ring onto that ring finger?  Who were you with that you were doing this?  How did I not know you were even dating someone??”

I’m crazy embarrassed by my lack of knowing what was going on in her life… but only slightly more so that I was the only one in the room who was noticing which finger she was pointing to!  Piece by piece, she finally backed up enough to those of us who didn’t know that she was seeing a guy named Jeremy and that she was trying to get her Clemson ring on her left ring finger so he would know what size engagement ring to look for.  I really wish we had somehow recorded that entire conversation because in my head, it’s like a sitcom/drama playing out and I kind of love it.

That night, I left after giving Dori a hug and telling her that when all of this played out I would be more than happy to help with whatever wedding things I could help with.  And I’m so glad she took me up on it!  There were lots of texts about venues and details and flowers and of course photography.

My favorite part of capturing Dori and Jeremy’s wedding day was seeing how genuinely excited they were to begin this season of their life together.  Before their first look, Dori and I tried not to cry as we got out of the car.  And Jeremy was all but jumping out of his skin to see his bride!

Dori and Jeremy, you guys are amazing and such a good fit for each other.  THANK YOU for letting me spend your day with you.  Every piece of it was perfect, including the rain letting up just before your ceremony ended!  Enjoy reliving your day through your photos.  I hope you’ll enjoy them for decades to come!

I think the word “giddy” would be appropriate for these two!

My second shooter, Christy, had been in community group with Jeremy a little while back and she and I prayed over him before Dori came in.  That was the second time I got choked up that day!  But it was beautiful to see him pray over their day and their marriage before we began their portraits.  I’m amazing – and humbled – by the intimate moments like this that I am privileged to be a part of.

I’ve been dreaming of photographing a bride on this staircase since before it was even completed!

And I was not disappointed.  I love this one from above!

Seriously, I love having you two in front of my camera.

I’m obsessed with this photo that Christy caught…

Larkin’s is so good at what they do, and experiencing a wedding in their new venue, L, was just as excellent as always!

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE neutral tones in bouquets.  But Renee outdid herself with all of this beautiful color for Dori’s bouquet!

It began pouring sometime after we’d gone inside to cool off and take family photos and continued to pick up in intensity as the ceremony began.  But by the time these two were officially husband and wife, the rain was gone, the ground was beginning to dry and we were able to hop outside for some “just married portraits”!

That, “I can’t believe we’re actually married” laughter!

Thank you to ALL of the incredible vendors that made Dori and Jeremy’s day so wonderful!
