Emmett Christopher | Greenville, SC Birth Photographer

Never would I have dreamed of doing something like this.  But when I started seeing photos that my friend Brittany was posting of babies making their entrance into the world, I was moved in a way I hadn’t been before. Her images were beautiful and she was getting to witness something that not everyone does.  But it wasn’t just that… the reason I’ve found I love doing this is the same reason I love shooting weddings.  It’s such a BIG moment in someone’s life and to be able to capture that, to freeze time, to hold a moment forever within an image is such an amazing thing.  And to be able to do that for others brings tears to my eyes each and every time.

So when Rob and Whitney contacted me earlier this year about photographing the birth of their son, I was so excited!  We met for coffee and chatted about their family (they already have a son and SUCH an adorable daughter!) and what their expectations were for their third child’s birthday.  And when I got the text that her water had broken last Friday morning I was so excited!  By the time they were getting closer to his arrival, the weather decided to start showing it was ready too.  The rain started as I pulled out of my driveway and was doing nothing but getting stronger the closer I got to the hospital.  To say I was thankful to find a spot in the garage would be a drastic understatement!

Rob and Whitney, thank you for allowing me to hang out with you guys as you waited, welcomed and then loved on your most perfect little boy.  Emmett Christopher made his arrival at 6:05pm on July 12 and weighed in at 8lbs 5oz and 21in and it was obvious from the moment he was laid on your chest that you both were in love.  And I’m not gonna lie… he’s SO adorable and I found myself falling for him almost as quickly!  Enjoy some of my favorites from the evening!

With the crazy storm going on, they were telling me that each of their kids came into the world on a Friday and with some kind of “drama”.
The storm that came and went during his labor and delivery will be his!

Not long now…

Whitney… you were AMAZING.

And then… he was here!

Thank you, Auto Focus, for helping me out when my eyes are threatening to spill over with tears.

I know it looks like he’s crying, but I barely remember any cries!

He calmed down so quickly… he just needed to be with his parents :-)

I LOVE doing this because mom, baby, AND dad get to bond immediately and no one has to worry about photos but me.

The one on the right stops my heart… every time I see it.

And this one?  Absolute favorite.

He was actually born at 6:05pm, but I was so enamored with his arrival that a photo of the clock was no where near the forefront of my mind!

SWEETEST photo of the night.

Rob was just as in love as Whitney was.  With as much as they were loving on him, you would this this was their first, not their third!
Just shows how special EACH child is.

He pulled his hat over his eyes a couple of times.  He might do that a few more times until he figures out that it’s his arms and hands doing that!

They just couldn’t stop looking at him…

If we could hear what he was thinking in the image on the right, he’d be saying, “Dad, you have NO idea what I’ve been through today!”

And baby feet?  Cutest things ever.

His eyes were WIDE open and he was so taken with everything around him.

And I know what you’re thinking… babies don’t really smile until they’re older.  But I’m claiming that as smile!

The eye lashes!

I’ll end with this one… where he has a half-smile going on :-)
