Monday Musings | Seeing Double

To say a lot has happened over this 4th of July extended holiday weekend would be such a grand understatement!  In fact, it actually sort of began on July 3 when my friend Lindsay went into the hospital to deliver her sweet babies.  Yes, that’s right, there are 2!  However, it seems these are going to be some crazy laid back twins because they actually didn’t arrive until July4, but it just gave us 2 extra reasons to celebrate!  So, in honor of their arrival, I’m going to attempt to share two things that happened each day over the long weekend.  Here it goes:

  • Wednesday, July 3: Waited on the babies as long as I could before we needed to leave for our weekend in Tennessee with Ben’s family.  It rained most of our way up there.
  • Thursday, July 4: Celebrated the twins arrival as we celebrated Ben’s dad’s birthday!  It rained so we didn’t get to see (many) fireworks.
  • Friday, July 5: Ben and I went to the Apple Barn for breakfast (yum!) and to wander through the general store (mainly to buy more Amish popcorn).  It rained again so we didn’t get to use the sparklers I’d brought for the trip.
  • Saturday, July 6: Ben and I drove home so I could help Kim DeLoach shoot a beautiful wedding! Thankfully it only rained during the times we DIDN’T need to be outside.
  • Sunday, July 7: I went to hang out with the twins (baby girl slept in my arms the entire 2 hours I was there)!  It waited to rain until about 7:30pm last night.

Annnnd, we should have titled this post with something to do with rain.  No, really, I’ve never seen so much rain during the summer.  And while I’m trying not to complain too much since we haven’t seen this much rain in who knows how long, I’m REALLY starting to miss the sun.  In fact, I’m not sure what it actually looks like anymore.  However, on the good side of things, we haven’t gone over 90 degrees much at all!  Which is awesome since this time last year we were hanging out around 100 degrees.  Yikes.  So, rain, for that, I thank you.

We also celebrated our niece’s birthday on Friday.  Her birthday was actually on Saturday, but since we’d all be leaving that day, we had the party on Friday!  She loves Narnia, so we had a Narnia party and she was Queen Lucy for the evening.  And while I might be biased, I think she makes the most beautiful of queens!

Happy (rainy) Monday, everyone!
