Monday Musings | Wedding Cakes

One of the perks of being a wedding photographer is getting a slice of wedding cake… almost every weekend during wedding season!  We always wait until the guests have been served, but when it’s obvious that there is still plenty left, Ben and I get a slice (usually to share) between the two of us.  There are occasions when we each get our own slice, but that happens only when there is PLENTY of cake and usually only when there are multiple flavors.

If you’ve ever wondered what wedding photographers talk about on the way home from a wedding, let me give you some insight… On the way home from the wedding I helped Allison with on Saturday, we talked about wedding cakes.  Yes!  Cake!  And we decided that the multiple flavors in the different layers of wedding cakes might be one of our most favorite wedding trends.  The cake this weekend had strawberry as the main flavor in the bottom layer and it was AMAZINGLY delicious!  After having strawberry cake a handful of times lately, it has officially become my current favorite flavor of cake.  It’s alway so fresh and delicious and usually has strawberries baked right in!

Ben is usually so good about resisting sweets.  Or maybe he just flat out doesn’t like them as much as I do.  Whatever the case, once I introduced him to sweet potato cake about a year ago, that’s one cake he won’t refuse!!  And if you’ve never tried it, head over to Brick Street TODAY to get a slice.  I promise you won’t regret it!
