Our Annual Pumpkin Carving

One way you can tell whether I’m on top of things and blogging ahead of schedule is what time my blog posts go up each day.  My “plan” is to do a blog post the morning or afternoon the day before the post goes up.  If that happens, then I schedule it to post at 7:15 or 7:30am the next morning and that morning is way more relaxed.  If I’m NOT on top of things, then I’m writing the post the morning of and quite possibly posting it much later in the morning… or afternoon.  One day, I hope to get enough ahead of the game so that I’m 2 or 3 days ahead on the blog.  How awesome would that be??

Granted, sometimes a blog post doesn’t come to mind until it’s late – such as yesterday.  When Ben and I started dating a few years ago, we went over to his friends’ house to carve pumpkins.  And at this point, it’s kind of become a tradition.  So I thought I’d take the “real camera” to document the occasion!

We get pumpkins, we break the cheap little carving tools (last year someone had to leave the house to go find more carving tools because so many had broken!), we get pumpkin guts everywhere, we eat some yummy goodies, we save some pumpkin seeds for me to cook the next day and then we light candles in our pumpkins and admire our handiwork!  It’s really fun.  And it gives us an excuse to pretend like we’re still kids for a bit.  If you haven’t carved a pumpkin in a while, I highly encourage it (although I recommend starting with something easy ;-) ).

The pumpkin carving kits I found were themed… so I got a Star Wars one for Ben and a Peanuts one for me.

And Jenni made gluten free pumpkin cheesecake.  It was delicious!

With a few minor details, like it looking like my pumpkin has something wrong with his lip, this came out pretty good!

Jenni did a kitty upon request of her 4 year old.  I’ve never been so impressed with her pumpkin carving skills!

Ben is going to kill me for posting this, but it’s hilarious!

Haha – I was doing my “ruin the candid picture” pose.
