I am so glad you're here! This is my little corner where I get to share some of my most favorite images from engagements, weddings, births, my travels and my own little family from time to time. Hang out, look around, and please reach out to say hello!
Just over a week ago, we were in Charleston for an engagement session and when I texted Amy where I was, she texted me back confirming that we were meeting at 6pm. And we definitely were… but it was 5pm when I sent the text! Never before have I been AN HOUR early for a shoot before!
At first, I was aggravated with myself for putting the wrong time in my calendar. But then it hit me; I was alone, in a beautiful city, with my camera in my hand. I’m pretty sure the last time I had that opportunity was in Paris in 2009.
And so I wandered. Up and down streets, looking for the good light, even getting a little lost. And for the first time in ages, I took photos for me. Sure, I’ve been taking all kinds of photos since February when our sweet baby girl was born, but that’s capturing life and memories, not working on something that inspires and pushes my creativity.
I had no idea how much I needed each of those 60 extra minutes until I was in the midst of them. I needed to see things through my lens that I don’t usually see. I needed some time to take photos of Charleston doors like I’d been wanting to for ages. God gave me that extra hour as a gift and I’m so thankful for it because I didn’t even realize it was something I was missing.
Charleston has some of the most amazing doors and alley’s ever.
And gates!
I really could have stayed and photographed this house forever!
Some of my favorite professional pictures I have of my girls are from Charleston. And if you love the gates you should swing by Dacuba next time your there – its a little jewelry store near the back of the market and treat yourself to a Charleston gate inspired necklace.
