Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday… on a Tuesday

Years ago I found a way to get breaking news from CNN sent to my phone as a text message.  And since I don’t watch the news on a regular basis at all, this is about my only link to what’s going on in the world (besides Twitter and Facebook).  During the Olympics last summer, I turned them off because I was tired of finding out who won events before they were even aired in the states!  Hopefully they’ll either have that figured out by the next games.

As I was getting texts from CNN yesterday and last night about the tornado that went through Oklahoma, my heart kept breaking pieces at a time.  As I’ve caught up a little with the news and what’s been happening, I can’t help but stop and pray for for Moore, for OK, for those families who have lost everything and for those families who have lost loved ones.  I just can’t imagine.

So, today, I’m thankful.  Yes, I’m thankful I was able to sleep in my bed last night and that all of my loved ones are far from that storm that hit, but even more so, I’m thankful we have hope in a God that is sovereign over our lives and this world.  That no matter how difficult things get, no matter how closely and personally we have to view this broken world, I’m thankful for a Creator that loves us more than we could ever imagine.  So even if it feels like the world is crumbling around you today or any day, remember that our HOPE isn’t in these things that are crumbling, but in a loving, powerful, and amazing God.

We also try not to take for granted how healthy we are.  We work out several times a week, I can run up stairs without losing my breath (depending on how many stairs there are!), and I can do things as simple as walking across a room.  And I always want to be thankful for that.

As a little pick-me-up today, Ben was able to finish editing our Mud Run video from last month!  He and I took turns wearing the Go-Pro video camera on our heads and what he’s put together is well… it’s amazing.  I’ve watched it close to a dozen times and 1) part of me still can’t believe we did this (twice now!) and 2) if you haven’t done a Mud Run, this might pump you up to jump right in!

LOVE IT! This totally makes me want to do a mud run myself. I still can’t believe I haven’t done one, but now I really really want to run! Team Prayer Group??? Team East North??? I’m open to name suggestions…
