The Nursery | Letting Myself Off the Hook

We’ve been in our house for 12 weeks now.  That’s 3 months.  We’re also 14-ish weeks away from having a baby who will also be living here.

And right now?  Well, her room looks like this…

It’s still the storage room from the move.  Actually, most of this is from the attic at our other house.  Which means, it’s mostly MY stuff that needs to be sorted through.

But I realized that I’m the kind of person who likes to tackle projects at one time instead of working on them bit by bit.  And each time I walk into this room, I just don’t have the time to sit and go through everything!

This weekend we have our last two weddings of the year.  Once those weddings are edited and delivered to my brides, I’ll then be “off” until our only wedding in January, which will be the last one before baby Catherine arrives!

So, I’ve let myself off the hook.  I’m getting through this week and this weekend’s weddings and THEN I can concentrate on this room.  Some friends are taking me to register just before Thanksgiving so by then I’ll be able to actually THINK about what I want this room to look and feel like for our sweet baby girl.

Right now, these are my thoughts:

– the walls are “Belgian sweet” (aka chocolate brown)
– I’m planning to purchase a white crib and dresser and paint the changing table white
– the accent colors I’d like to use are white, teal, and maybe a touch of lavender
– I have no idea what to do with the blank wall… I just knew that I didn’t want all four walls to be the same color

There’s still a lot to do, but we still have plenty of time.  Right??

I’m also taking suggestions on what to do with that one wall… I don’t think I want it to be a solid lavender or teal (yikes!) but I don’t know that I want it plain white either.  Any and all help is appreciated!

A brown and teal Eiffel Tower or bistro/cafe table, chairs, & awning mural would be perfect on that wall! ;)

  2. Taylor says:

I am a sucker for soft colors in a baby’s room, heck all over really. Stripes with a really light teal or lavender, maybe a mural, polka dots, a fabric you just love? There are so many options out there! Will the crib be on that wall? If so, you could really do so many things to feature that wall and the baby area.

It’s ok! We still have a big hairy man living in our baby’s room! :)
