Running a small business is no walk in the park… although some days, a walk in the park is necessary to clear your head and even brainstorm or think through some ideas!  But most days, it’s a bit more difficult than that.  Someone pointed out to me once that not only am I a photographer but I’m the CEO, CFO, marketing director, customer service rep, administrative assistant, and at least a few other roles.  Luckily, when we got married, Ben took this business on as his own so those brainstorming meetings that happen by myself always end up being run by him.  And luckily, he has an awesome(ly handsome) head on his shoulders and can either help me flesh out ideas or tell me if something is way off track.

But one thing we’ve both been on board with from the beginning is PASS.  He went with me to Charlotte a couple of years ago (where he informed some friends that we met THAT NIGHT that he was going to propose in a couple of weeks!) to hear all about this new software that would allow photographers to electronically share their photos with clients.  Not only that, but the clients would be able to share them with friends and family and even post them to Facebook and Pinterest!

Up until that point, I was selling the digital files from weddings as an add-on.  But as I mentioned a while ago about not always being on the bandwagon, I got on this one pretty quickly.  Times change, trends change, technology changes… and I really feel that if we don’t move and change with things then we’ll be left in the dust.

So, aside from the fact that my mom taught me to share when I was little, I want my brides and grooms to have ALL of their images from their wedding day.  I don’t want them to have to pick and choose what photos they’re going to have forever.  I don’t want them to have to pick and choose what memories to hang onto in the form of a photograph. I want them to have their day – their whole wedding day – at their fingertips.  Which is why my pricing is the way that it is.  I don’t hide what I charge, as it’s clearly on my website, but it includes my time, my ability, a second shooter (which translates to more images for my clients), my photography knowledge, an engagement session (as well as those images), and all of their images from their wedding day.  I also strongly believe in having images printed as well as bound into a wedding album, but that’s another blog post.

Plus, with the new PASS and its Pinterest-y layout, my clients look better than they already did!
