Fabulous Friday

Fabulous Friday | Halloween in the Early 80s

I honestly can’t tell you the last time I dressed up for Halloween.  The thought of either spending money on a costume or taking the time to create one myself just doesn’t appeal to me!  But then I see all of these really fun Halloween costumes and they make me want to throw a party just for an excuse to dress up!  But then I come back to my senses and realize that planning and throwing parties isn’t my thing either (although, CO-hosting a party is WAY better and easier!).  Oh wait… I remember!  Our church used to host a trunk-or-treat (before we had multiple campuses) and our community group would dress up.  That was always fun because it was a group effort and we got to see everyone at church and even new faces of people who were just coming through for the fun of it!  I think the last time we did that was maybe 2007.

But I digress… with baby Catherine all wiggly and squirmy (and giving me a few punches behind my belly button every once in a while), I’m already thinking of what she’ll dress up as over the next few years.  This time next year, she’ll be 8 months old and my brain is exploding with all kinds of adorable things we can dress her up with!  I’m kind of excited about it :-)

So, in honor of halloween and this baby girl coming on the scene in the next several months, I thought I’d give you guys a little Flashback Friday on this Fabulous Friday to when I was little!

The top left, it was 1981 and I had just turned 2.  Doesn’t look like we did much trick-or-treating that year but we definitely carved a pumpkin!  And look at my mama!  Isn’t she beautiful?!?  Love her :-)  The top right was 1982, so I had just turned 3… and I kind of still love that Little Red Riding Hood outfit.  Not that I still have it, but I’m pretty sure my mom made it and it’s adorable!  Especially with those curls coming out of the back of my bonnet… if only I still had those too.  And finally, the bottom one was from 1983 and I had just turned 4.  Well before the Disney Princess craze, this is what we did to dress up as a princess… crown, scepter, and orange pumpkin for the candy!

I’d love to hear what you guys are dressing up as or IF you’re dressing up at all!  Happy Halloween!
