Fabulous Friday | The Noisy Rabbit

For years some friends had been telling me about The Noisy Rabbit and how each week they would pick up a basket full of fresh and locally grown fruits and veggies.  But, I was single, living by myself and wasn’t adventurous enough in my cooking to know what to do when I got something in my basket like fennel.  Fennel??  So, I didn’t think much about it.

Enter my chef of a husband who loves to cook and try new things.  Also enter my friend and co-worker who had just signed up.  ALSO enter Pinterest where The Noisy Rabbit has their own board where they post recipes for even the craziest of veggies.  With all of those things and the stars and planets and unicorns lining up just right, we thought it might be time to give it a try.

And?  Well, we love it!  We’re trying some new things and making recipes we’d never make otherwise.  And we’re definitely eating more veggies than we were before… which is always a good thing!  If you follow me on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, I’ve been posting a picture of our basket each time I pick it up.

I wasn’t completely sure how it worked, but they have a great FAQ page on their website.  But the gist is this: you pay a monthly fee and a membership fee every 6 months and you go to someone’s house (that you choose based on your location) and pick up your basket each week.  Then, the next week, you bring your empty basket to leave so they can fill it up the following week.  Easy peasy.  AND, they’ll also send member specials every so often.  Like, earlier this week I ordered some pumpkins for less than I would have bought them at the store, and I’m picking them up today!  They also had bails of hay and gourds for good prices.  How fun is that??

So, if you’re interested, check out their website.  And if you sign up, be sure to put my name down because if 3 of you do that, then we get a free week! :-)

Happy Friday!!
