When Jesse reached out about photographing his proposal to his girlfriend at Pretty Place Chapel, he wasn’t sure what to expect. He had not heard of Pretty Place before Shanna mentioned wanting to visit. But, as many soon-to-be-fiancés will tell you, when the love of your life has a dream location in mind, you make it happen.
The day of the proposal, the weather had other plans. It was cold, overcast, and rainy. But there we were, at the top of a mountain, with only the faintest glimpse of the stunning view that Pretty Place is known for. The mist hanging in the air and the quiet stillness of the day created a romantic atmosphere, even without the usual sweeping vistas!
Jesse, however, was focused on one thing, asking Shanna to spend her life with him.
There were more people at Pretty Place that morning than expected and Jesse was worried about their photos being too crowded. But through a text, I assured him I’d work around the other visitors!
That’s when Jesse walked over and asked me to take their photo with his phone in front of the cross. When I handed his phone back, I turned around to get my own camera as he began to tell Shanna how much he means to her… and when he got down on one knee, the fog and drizzle didn’t matter. What mattered was the moment. And when Shanna said yes, it was like the world was just them, no matter the weather or number of visitors.
Little did she know though, the stranger who had taken their photo with Jesse’s phone just moments before he got down on one knee was actually the photographer he had hired to capture their big moment.
It was such a sweet and surprising moment when she realized the whole thing had been planned! The unexpected, emotional, and filled-with-love moments make being a part of proposals so special.
The fog may have obscured the views at Pretty Place Chapel that day, but it certainly couldn’t dim the magic of Jesse and Shanna’s proposal. Wishing them a lifetime of love and adventure as they begin this next chapter together!
