This styled shoot was a little bit of therapy for me.  It was something I’d wanted to do for a while and had been overthinking it for far too long.  Thanks to some encouragement from a friend, I finally made the calls, sent the emails and this amazing group of ladies helped make it happen!

The best part?  Two of these ladies have been in front of my camera plenty of times before (Laura and I go back a few years and Catherine and I met ages ago when she was still in high school.  And she asked me to photograph her wedding just over a year ago!).

I was so excited to meet Leigh, who is adorable, fun and super talented.  Anna’s eye for florals never ceases to amaze me.  She even has a flower bar at her shop, Urban Petals, in downtown Greer, where you can create your own bouquet, or have her create one for you!

And WhiteWall Studios was a dream.  Even on a cloudy day, there was beautiful light.  I’ll definitely be shooting there again!

Some of the therapy came from just shooting.  Doing a couple of things I don’t normally do, trying out a new camera, getting creative with poses and angels… This was just for me (and the other creatives too!).  And I even shot a roll of film.  It’s been ages since I picked up my film camera and I’ve missed it!  Some of those images are at the end of this post.

The other therapeutic part was in the editing.  Most photographers will tell you they don’t get into photography to sit behind their computer (which is true for me!), but sitting down and tweaking these images as I went through them reminded me how much I adore what I get to do.

These are the film photos… when I use my film camera, it’s 98% of the time going to have black and white film in it.
