Siobhan + Anthony | The Bates House | A Long Island Wedding

The day was perfect.  Just perfect.

Siobhan was excited but oh so ready for the day to be there.  She’d tried several times to get Anthony to elope leading up to their wedding day, but he kept telling her it would be worth the wait to celebrate with everyone… and it was!  Anthony was so ready to see his bride and for her to become his wife that I hear he hasn’t stopped calling her “wife” since they said I Do!

Friends and family flew and drove in from all up and down the east coast and there were more smiles and hugs and kisses and toasts than the bride and groom could have asked for.  Both sides of their families welcomed me with open arms and I loved every minute!

Don’t get me wrong, I really do love every wedding I photograph!  But when you’ve known the bride for several years and you clicked from the moment you met, the day hits a tad closer to my heart than usual.  Siobhan and Anthony couldn’t stop smiling all day and I was right there with them.  I was wiped out by the time I hugged them goodbye but was so excited to start going through their photos… so much so that I had to force myself to go to sleep and not start editing their photos that night!

You’ll soon see why, but this is probably my longest wedding blog of my career.  Yes, it was beautiful, yes Anthony’s mom did an AMAZING job with decorations and yes, Cara did an incredible job with the florals… I just couldn’t stop taking photos of their work and I’m so thankful to have been there and captured it all!

Between the necklace from her grandmother and the wedding hanky her great aunt made,
there were lots of beautiful and personal touches from the day.

Siobhan’s mom made her veil and her hair peace had pieces of her mom’s veil and Anthony’s mom’s wedding dress!

I LOVED their wedding party!  Including the cutout Anthony’s friend Joey… he couldn’t be there but he was “there!”

I can still smell the scent of those garden roses… they were divine!

I couldn’t get enough of these dresses… or how beautiful and kind and wonderful and welcoming these girls were!

We were all holding back the tears…

Marriage looks SO GOOD on you two!

The bride made the donuts… no big deal.
You should go follow her bakery on Instagram HERE.

The flower girl and ring bearer wanted to dance too!

There’s a reason it’s called Golden Hour… and I’m so glad these two let me take them out for more photos.
It was completely worth it!

We got our #sabrinaweddingselfie, but I also wanted a “real photo” with Siobhan.
I’m so excited for you and your new husband, sweet friend! (Thanks for taking this, Anthony!)

I have to give a shoutout to Anthony’s grandparents… when I asked how long they’d been married, they said this week they would be celebrating 65 years!  AND, he turned 90 this week too!  I really hope Ben and I are like them when we grow up :-)

I decided for this wedding I only wanted to shoot black + white film (it’s always been my main love) and I was so giddy that the scans arrived as I was about to click publish!  So, I’m excited to share some of my favorite film shots from their day too.  These were all taken with my Pentax 645.  The getting ready photos of Siobhan were taken on Delta3200 and the rest were taken on Illford HP5, 400 speed film and all were processed and scanned by Richard Photo Lab.

Somehow, film seems to freeze moments even more so than digital does…

Many thanks to the incredibly talented family and vendors for making Siobhan + Anthony’s day as wonderful as it was!
