Part of me still can’t believe she is here.  And as I photographed her birth and her newborn photos almost exactly a year after Catherine was born, so many of those feelings and emotions came flooding back.  Harper Rose is beautiful and perfect and has two of the most wonderful parents that the Lord could have given her.

You may be surprised to see newborn photos on the blog… it’s been a while since I’ve done a newborn session and blogged it because several years ago I realized that photographing newborns was not where my gifts were.  So even though I’ve done a few sessions over the last couple of years, it’s been for friends and in more of a “life style” style than a posed newborn style. And I’ve sent the images directly to them without putting any up on my blog.

I do love capturing photos of tiny, sweet new babies being loved on by their parents who are in awe of this tiny thing who has just changed their lives.  So that’s how I’ve approached each session… but I also go about it from that perspective because newborns don’t like to sleep for me when I have my camera out!

Since you saw their maternity session and birth photos, it only seemed fitting to share sweet Harper Rose’s newborn photos also.  Enjoy some of my favorites and help me congratulate Joe and Stephanie on their precious baby girl!

Not surprisingly, Harper was much happier when she was in her mom or dad’s arms.

She got a little upset with me when I wanted to lay her down for some photos on the bed.. she was just not feeling it.  So, Joe swaddled her, rocked her a little bit and she calmed right down…

And then fell asleep.

And this may be my most favorite newborn photo I’ve ever taken.
